SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Researchers at Colorado State University forecast a “slightly above normal” 2025 Atlantic hurricane season with 16 named storms, 8 hurricanes, three of them expected to be “major” hurricanes.

After a very active 2024 hurricane season, the Suncoast is now entering peak hurricane season for 2025.

While residents are stocking up on sandbags and batteries, one analyst says it’s also important to be financially prepared.
