WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – NASCAR driver Connor Zilisch was injured but is “doing OK” after he fell while celebrating his Xfinity Series race victory on Saturday at Watkins Glen International.
Zilisch, 19, broke his collarbone after he fell while attempting to climb onto the roof of his No. 88 in celebration after winning the Mission 200 at The Glen. He said his foot “slipped” and was caught in the window netting on the driver’s side window before he fell onto the asphalt. He was placed on a stretcher by safety personnel and transported to a hospital.
Zilisch’s team, Trackhouse Racing, announced on Saturday he would miss Sunday’s Cup Series race due to his injury and withdrew his No. 87 Red Bull Chevrolet from the event.
