ST. CHARLES COUNTY (First Alert 4) - The Missouri State Auditor’s Office says it will likely review the Francis Howell School District’s controversial payout to a superintendent who resigned before starting the job. The review will be part of a broader follow-up to a recent audit that gave the district the lowest possible rating.

Mike Dominguez was hired in March as Francis Howell’s new superintendent with a $250,000 salary and a planned July 1 start date. Four days before he was scheduled to begin, the district announced a delay due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Dominguez resigned before ever starting , and in late July, the district’s Board of Education unanimously approved a $229,166.67 severance payout, equal to 11 months of his salary.
