LONG BEACH, Miss. (WLOX) - FEMA has signed off on the latest plan to repair the Jim Simpson Pier in Long Beach.
Monday morning, Harrison County Sand Beach Director Trey McKnight shared the news with supervisors. The board then voted to put the job out for bid.

McKnight issued the following statement:
The pier was damaged in 2020 when Hurricane Zeta tore it apart. The county will rebuild the pier with wood and flow-through decking, along with two cabanas with metal roofs and benches.
A timetable for the project will be set once bids come back.
