PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - When you park your car for the night in Putnam County, you hope your belongings are safe.

“It’s an easy take,” Sheriff Bobby Eggleton said.

During the weekend, Eggleton said two people allegedly broke into cars parked in the Sleepy Hollow area around 5 a.m. Saturday.

“It’s nothing new,” Eggleton said. “People have done this forever. Most of the time it’s a petit larceny and they will steal something that’s not worth very much. If you find enough cars, you’ll hit something.”

Therefore, the Sheriff’s Office is reminding people in Teays Valley to lock your cars and keep your valuables inside your home.
