PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A second body part has been found in the Tualatin River.

A kayaker first discovered a body part in the river at Rood Bridge Park in Hillsboro on Aug. 8, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, which is handling the investigation. While searching the area on Aug. 9, a second body part was recovered.

A spokesperson told KOIN 6 News the case is being treated as a homicide.

Investigators declined to say which body parts were found or how long they had been in the water.

The Clackamas and Columbia County Sheriff's offices are assisting and the investigation is ongoing. Detectives have not yet released the identity of the victim or the cause of death.
