NEW YORK (PIX11) — New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley are on alert for poor air quality once again on Tuesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced.
The Air Quality Health Advisory comes as ground-level ozone is expected to exceed the Air Quality Index Value of 100, combined with the high temperatures on deck for Tuesday.
Vehicle exhaust and out-of-state emission sources combined with the heat are what lead to the formation of ground-level ozone. It cannot be seen directly, but it can cause hazy skies and reduce visibility in dense areas.
Those with respiratory issues, young children, elderly people, and outdoor exercisers should try to limit time outside while these air quality alerts are in effect, Gov. Hochul said.
