Heat relief helpers have teamed up in downtown Phoenix as the temperatures get hotter this summer.

Scottsdale Recovery Center and Redeem Neighborhoods are working together to help the Phoenix homeless population near Cesar Chavez Park, 7858 S. 35th Ave., Phoenix.

The groups are distributing water from 3 to 5 p.m. every Tuesday in August for homeless residents, said Aymet Demara, clinical director at the Scottsdale Recovery Center.

“The biggest goal with all of this is to (help the homeless population) with hydration during the hottest months,” Demara said.

This summer has been hot. On Monday, the low temperatures reached the upper 80s and the lower 90s, according to the National Weather Service in Phoenix. The forcasted high was 110 degrees that day.
