DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Memorial Blood Centers has declared a blood emergency in Minnesota due to the state’s critically low blood supply.

Summer tends to bring a decline in blood donations, often driven by busy summer schedules and school breaks.

Minnesota’s blood supply has now dropped below a two-day inventory pattern.

A seven-day inventory of blood supply is needed to keep up with the state’s hospital and patient needs.

O-negative and O-positive blood is needed most right now.
