BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Belhaven is expanding one of its boat ramps to welcome more people to its waterfront.
The boat ramp on what locals call the Cooperage property, off of Highway 99, is a singular ramp with open grass and gravel space to park.
But the new Belhaven Cooperage Boating Access Area will add to the ramp area and create parking for 75 trucks and trailers.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission will begin construction on the area starting next week on August 18.
Town Manager Lynn Davis says she can’t wait for the long awaited project to begin.
“We are beyond excited to have this actually coming, to be coming to fruition, and like I’ve mentioned, it is a gateway into our community,” Davis told WITN. “So having this just as people come in, it’s just another
