GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Greenville man with elder exploitation involving an elderly family member following a three-month investigation.

The sheriff’s office had been looking into allegations of funds being unlawfully taken from the victim by a family member following a tip to the FBI.

The sheriff’s office says 28-year-old Jeffrey Rouse Jr. was eventually located and arrested in Jacksonville.

He’s charged with elder exploitation, 27 counts of felony identity theft, and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Farmville police also charged Rouse with failing to work after being paid.

He’s in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $100,000 bond.
