NEW YORK STATE (WENY) -- If a recent New York State Electric and Gas Company (NYSEG) proposal is approved next year, customers will see an increase in your gas and electric bills. NYSEG submitted a proposal for a rate increase in late June to the Public Service Commission for both gas and electric customers.

This proposal is part of NYSEG's ' Powering New York ' Plan, which will help upgrade and improve the state's aging infrastructure.

NYSEG submitted the proposal in late June to the Public Service Commission and requested a rate increase for both gas and electric customers. This means your home's electric bill (600 kilowatt-hours per month) would increase $33.12 per month. The average residential gas bill would go up $33.57 per month.
