MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Former Minnesota Vikings running back Alexander Mattison will miss the entire 2025 season after suffering a neck injury in a preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

Mattison, who signed with the Miami Dolphins in March, left Sunday's game after being tackled and landing awkwardly on his head in the fourth quarter. Coach Mike McDaniel said afterward that Mattison had some soreness in his neck and shoulder.

Mattison was taken to a hospital and had season-ending neck surgery, ESPN reported, and on Monday, the team announced it had placed him on injured reserve.

Mattison, the Vikings' third-round pick in 2019, spent five years in Minnesota, rushing for 2,370 yards and 11 touchdowns. He spent one season in Las Vegas, rushing for 420 yards and four TDs, before signin
