Students in Covington County have now started their school year.
The first classes were held today.
Action 8 News visited Straughn Middle School this morning where principal Cassandra Anderson is continuing her 30+ year tenure with a fresh start for students.
Administrators and staff say their goal is to provide an atmosphere where each child can strive, be successful and feel free to shine their own light.
All eight Covington County Schools began the school year today. Elsewhere in the county, Andalusia and Opp city schools started last week.
