KERRVILLE, Texas — Nearly a month after catastrophic floods swept through the Texas Hill Country, the Texas Rangers have released the names of 119 people who lost their lives in the disaster.

On July 4, heavy rain caused the Guadalupe River to surge 36 feet, devastating communities across the region, with Kerr County being hit the hardest. Victims ranged in age from 1 to 91 years old and included residents and visitors from across Texas and other states.

The list released Friday included 65-year-old Carol Andrews of Athens, Texas; 53-year-old Cynthia Rushing; and 64-year-old James Rushing, both of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Many of the victims were from Texas, but others came from as far as Florida, Alabama, and California.
