A Cook County sheriff's deputy shot a man who was stabbing a woman during a domestic violence call on Monday evening in unincorporated Lyons Township, officials said.
At around 5:30 p.m., a deputy responded to a domestic violence call in the 6400 block of Joliet Road, the Cook County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. After arriving at the scene, the deputy encountered a male suspect holding a female victim, who was bleeding, at knifepoint, authorities said.
A second female victim was lying motionless and bleeding on the floor, sheriff's officials said.
The offender started stabbing the victim again, at which point the deputy opened fire, striking the suspect, according to law enforcement. The victims and suspect were taken to area hospitals in unknown condition.
