The Market Street Bridge over the Schuylkill River will undergo emergency repairs for several weeks after a section of the bridge deck was damaged, PennDOT said on Monday, Aug. 11.
Officials say one lane will be open on both sides of the bridge between 30th and 23rd streets during the repairs.

PennDOT engineers are still assessing the damage to determine a plan for repairs, therefore an exact timetable for reopening is not available.
Drivers are urged to allow for extra time if they have to travel across the impacted roadway, with significant delays and backups expected to occur.
