A Taunton man was sentenced to 10 to 12 years in state prison for child molestation, prosecutors said Friday.

Daniel Gomes, 49, was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation during an appearance in June in Fall River Superior Court, Bristol District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III’s office said in a statement.

Gomes had pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including aggravated rape of a child, indecent assault and battery on a child, and obscene matter to a minor, prosecutors said.

In July 2022, the victim, an eight-year-old child, disclosed that Gomes sexually molested her on multiple occasions, since the age of five. Gomes was the husband of the victim’s older relative, the statement said.
