IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Saturday at Iowa’s annual Kids’ Day open scrimmage, running backs Kamari Moulton and T.J. Washington were out due to injury.
True freshman Nathan McNeil took advantage.
McNeil was quick, looking impressive against the first and second team Hawkeye defense.
McNeil wasn’t a highly recruited high school senior, but Kirk Ferentz and Iowa liked what they saw. Ferentz has continued to be impressed with McNeil’s development.
“We were really impressed with him,” said Ferentz. “What do you think he weighs? If you were guessing? (He’s) over 200 pounds. I would have said 180 just looking at him in equipment, but he weighs 200 pounds.”
“He’s done a really good job, he’s a really mature guy, really happy he’s here.”
