A 37-year-old technical engineer at a popular local AM radio station is lucky to be alive after Good Samaritans pulled him a fiery freeway crash in South Los Angeles last week.
It’s unclear what exactly caused the Aug. 7 crash on the 105 Freeway at the 110 interchange, but footage posted to social shows Stefan Cabezas’ vehicle behind a guardrail fully engulfed in flames as thick plumes of black smoke poured out of the vehicle.
Kenyati Hubbard, who was first on the scene, told KTLA that the 37-year-old would have burned to death because he was trapped and there was no way out.
“I told my wife, ‘Stop the car now, stop the car now!” he explained. “I jumped over the guardrail, and I ran for the car and I’m trying to grab onto the passenger door up high, but it’s locked.”
