Cantando for NY State Assembly

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Democrat and political newcomer is running for New York's 124th Assembly District.

Anthony Cantando recently announced his candidacy for the office. If elected, Cantando says he wants to secure more investments in jobs and infrastructure, address staffing and wage issues in local healthcare and increase access to mental health resources.

The seat is currently occupied by Chris Friend, a Republican, who has represented the district since 2011.

Cantando says he is running because Friend does not do enough for his constituents.
