NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- Members of the Sikh community rallied in North Hollywood on Monday to support a 70-year-old man who was brutally beaten with a golf club last week.

The victim remains in critical condition, unable to communicate, with internal bleeding to the brain.

Now, the Sikh community is calling for more police protection.

A prayer for healing was given among the local Sikh community by Dr. Gurdial Singh Randhawa, the brother of Harpal Singh, who was brutally attacked with a golf club on Lankershim Boulevard and left for dead.

It happened while he was out for an afternoon walk near his place of worship.
