Bralyn Padgett has a scar in the middle of her chest and one on her lower back from a pole that impaled her during a freak car accident, surviving only because it took a “one in a million” path through her body. It is all of the damage in between the scars that still must be fixed.
In April, the 19-year-old from Walterboro drove her car off the road and crashed through a wooden fence, then another, then a chain-link fence. A long pole from the chain-link fence smashed through her windshield, then through her chest, out through her back and the back of the driver’s seat, pinning her in place.
