ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - DeKalb County Schools have taken a proactive action to combat vaping.
The board of education has approved the installation of vape detectors in all high schools, aiming to create a healthier, safer environment for students.
DeKalb schools report a 899% increase in electronic cigarettes incidents since the 2019-2020 school year. In the last school year alone, the district had more than 1300 such incidents.
“The growing issue of vaping is something we’ve got to tackle from multiple areas,” said Superintendent Dr. Devon Horton. We have programs that we have already started supporting our schools that are free of charge to us in partnership with the DEA and other agencies in the area.“
