CHICAGO ― Tarik Skubal takes pride in going deep into ballgames, which is why his last start, in Friday’s game against the Angels at Comerica Park, still was gnawing at him Monday.
Skubal failed to get out of the fifth inning for the first time all season, as he attempts to hit 200 innings in a regular season for the first time in his major-league career.
“I think as a pitcher, you take a ton of pride in throwing innings and trying to log as many innings as you can,” Skubal said Monday on “Foul Territory,” before the opener of a three-game series against the White Sox. “The 200-inning threshold is a little bit different than it’s been in years past.
