STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Driving on Staten Island’s highways really isn’t for the faint of heart.

Video recently provided to the Advance/SILive.com shows exactly that, as a dash cam captured the near-collision of a truck and SUV.

On Tuesday, July 15, at approximately 10:20 a.m., a large white truck and red Acura SUV just barely avoid each other near the Arden Avenue overpass on the West Shore Expressway, heading toward the Staten Island Expressway.

The Acura can be seen passing the dash cam-equipped vehicle in the left lane, as cars in the right lane slow for merging traffic.

As the SUV passes under the overpass, a large commercial truck suddenly moves over into the left lane, only turning on its turn signals as it starts to swing over.

Thinking quick, the Acura driver hits their brakes
