CHARLOTTE (WJZY) - Police have arrested a woman in connection with gunfire that caused panic at a back-to-school event in west Charlotte over the weekend.
According to Mecklenburg County court documents, Cherez Davis, 40, was taken into custody Saturday, August 9, after allegedly firing a gun into the air during a gathering of around 100 people at the C.W. Williams Community Health Center on Wilkinson Boulevard.
The event was the 11th annual back-to-school health fair, featuring free services and visits from Charlotte-area leaders, including U.S. Congresswoman Dr. Alma Adams.
No one was hurt in the incident, but the shots caused chaos as attendees ran for safety.
