VALE, N.C. (WNCN) — West Lincoln High School officials are apologizing after a video of several of its student-athletes using a racial slur started circulating on social media.

The school released its statement regarding the incident Monday night, calling the behavior in the video "deeply disappointing, unacceptable," saying it "does not reflect the values of West Lincoln High School, our athletic program, or our community."

Officials say they've addressed this incident with the students involved and their families. They say "appropriate disciplinary action" will be taken, in accordance with school policy, but did not give specifics on what that would entail.

The school did not say which sports the students played.
