PLYMOUTH, N.C. (WITN) - A Plymouth Town Council meeting ended abruptly Monday night after ongoing sound system problems and the absence of public comment time frustrated residents.

Some in attendance, including local remodeler Wayne Pittman, said they could not hear council members clearly. Pittman moved his chair within a few feet of the council table to hear what council members were saying.

“But last night I really needed to hear what was going on,” Pittman told WITN. “I took his advice from June and moved my chair forward. I wasn’t trying to antagonize anybody or make anyone mad. I just want them to get speakers.”

The sound problem has been ongoing for months, according to Pittman and Mayor Brian Roth. The council also skipped a public comment period Monday.
