Confederate monuments in Baltimore that were deemed controversial and removed are now part of a new exhibit.
Later this year, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles will display a number of Confederate monuments, including the Jackson-Lee Monument, which was taken down during then-Mayor Catherine Pugh’s administration in the middle of the night.
Also included are monuments to Confederate Soldiers and Sailors, Confederate Women of Maryland, and Supreme Court Justice Roger Taney.
According to the museum, the exhibit is intended to explore the evolution of Confederate monuments and their origins as symbols of white supremacist ideology that opposed civil rights movements.
