HARRISBURG, Pa. (WPVI) -- The clock is ticking down for SEPTA's deadline to get funding or start cutting service.

The transit agency says it has just two days before it has to take action.

The Pennsylvania State House passed sweeping public transportation legislation on Monday. However, HB 1788 faces a tougher fight in the State Senate on Tuesday.

Republicans make up the majority of the Senate and a few of them, including Sen Joe Picozzi, represent parts of the Philadelphia area.

He's among the republicans who Democrats are trying to convince to pass the bill to fund SEPTA.

We're now just two days away from when SEPTA officials say they'll have to start planning to reduce services by 20%, with the first set of cuts going into effect on August 24.
