BEDFORD — During Tuesday morning’s commissioners meeting, Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day commended the County Maintenance Crew for their outstanding work. Sheriff Day specifically recognized crew members Kelsey Young and Dalton Chrowning. Commissioner President Rodney Fish echoed the sentiment, referring to the crew as “our unsung heroes”.

Sheriff Day also provided an update on the current jail population. He reported that 10 inmates were transferred to other facilities on Tuesday morning. The jail’s current inmate count is 68, with 56 males and 12 females. Of those inmates, six are Department of Corrections holds, one is a parole violation, and one is a Level 6 felon.
