A new animal rescue organization in Danville is looking for volunteers to offer temporary foster homes to pets.
Although Homeward Trails Danville has an office in the former space occupied by Danville Deserves Better on Lynn Street, the group does not have a physical shelter. It instead places animals in foster homes for about one to three weeks before transferring them to the group’s headquarters in Fairfax.
Robin Young, the program director with Homeward Trails Danville, is the only full-time employee.
Homeward Trails has worked in Danville for the last 10 years, Young explained to the newspaper in a phone interview Saturday. The organization does work around the state with what’s known as trap, neuter, release — called TNR for short — in the effort to control the population of animal
