New pharmacy scheme for obese patients to ease pressure on NHS

The Government and pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly, the manufacturer behind weight loss medication Mounjaro, are joining forces to find and test new ways of tackling the obesity crisis in the UK by encouraging NHS organisations to share new proposals.

Announced on August 12, the new health innovation programme is backed by up to £50million in UK-wide investment from the government and £35million from Lilly in grant funding. £10million has been earmarked to support proposals specifically in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
