GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Tropical Storm Erin is moving quickly through the Central Atlantic. It’s slowly strengthens over the next couple of days with a quicker intensification late in the week.

The system gradually strengthens over the next couple of days before entering into an area with less dry air and warmer waters to help fuel it. Late Wednesday, Erin is expected to become a hurricane and then continue to strengthen to a major category 3 hurricane over the weekend.

The forecast challenge at this point is where does the Bermuda high steer the storm? A stronger high nudge the storm closer to the U.S., whereas a weaker high keeps it out to sea, but heading toward Bermuda.

Most of the models agree up to day 6-8, then begin to diverge slightly.
