KALAMAZOO, MI — Fifty modular pods purchased in 2021 to help address homelessness in Kalamazoo have been sold to the City of Lansing.

The Place of Dignity “Mod PODs” were purchased by Housing Resources Inc. in late 2021 for $1 million.

The Lansing City Council unanimously approved the purchase of the pods on Monday, Aug. 11, the Lansing State Journal reported . According to city documents, the city purchase — which includes storage of the PODs — was for $645,486.

A Lansing city spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a question of how much money was specifically for the pod purchase. HRI directed all financial questions pertaining to the sale to the city.

HRI decided in late 2024 it would sell the housing pods.
