Stark County is ready for its close-up.

The Ohio Department of Development is providing more than $46 million in grants to support 27 film and television productions set to take place throughout the state, including several in the Canton area. The state agency announced the funding on Aug. 12.

The projects include 11 films, four television mini-series five full television series, four Broadway/theater productions, two documentaries and one digital media. Awards were issued through the Motion Picture Tax Credit Program.

One film being produced in the Canton area was awarded more than $8.4 million — the second highest amount statewide.
