Two men in Iqaluit are being accused of stealing a vehicle engine from the municipal government.
The RCMP said the City of Iqaluit reported on July 21 that a new vehicle crate engine was stolen from its public works yard. The city provided police with security camera footage, which the RCMP say helped them identify two suspects.
A week later, the RCMP charged Sylvain Poirier, 54, and Pio Giuseppe Anthony Merla, 61, with mischief over $5,000 and break and enter to commit theft.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Merla as police were unable to locate him and learned he may have departed the territory. Anyone with information relating to his whereabouts is asked to contact the Iqaluit RCMP at 867-979-1111, or your local police of jurisdiction. If you wish to remain anonymous, please co
