WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- A woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a fire broke out at a home in Northeast D.C. on Tuesday, according to the DC Fire and EMS Department.

Minutes after 9:30 a.m., firefighters responded to a box alarm in the 500 block of F St.

Crews contained the fire to the first floor of the home.

The fire department said an air unit was requested and an additional truck to help battle the blaze.

Details about what led up to the fire are limited and the cause is under investigation.
