Neelya Herbert says her and her husband’s trip to Vancouver Island to get married ended on a sour note after their cat Luigi went missing on the ferry ride home.

“He’s a beautiful pussycat and he’s missing,” newlywed Neelya, who lives in Vernon on B.C.’s mainland, said Tuesday, days after Luigi disappeared on Aug. 9.

The black and white tuxedo cat was wearing a blue harness when he escaped through the opened rear window of the couple’s Ford F-350 pickup truck, as it was parked on the lower deck of BC Ferries’ Coastal Inspiration 10:15 a.m. sailing.

The vessel was travelling from Duke Point to Tsawwassen.

“We couldn’t remain on the car deck because of the ferry regulations, so we went upstairs. When we came back down, we noticed Luigi was missing,” Neelya recalled, noting the cat, adopt
