Somewhere in southern Manitoba, maybe in the cluttered back room of a thrift store, between a chipped mug from the 1988 Winter Olympics and a box of mismatched buttons, there may be a keychain that means more than diamonds. Chelsea Adair is looking for it.

Chelsea, née Friesen, is the oldest of five grandchildren of Harry L. and Helen Friesen. Her parents, Vern and Sharynn, raised her in Steinbach, where grocery aisles were not just aisles but arteries of family life. Harry Friesen helped run two Economy Foods stores: One in Steinbach and one in Winkler. The Winkler store sat on the northeast corner of Main Street and Mountain Avenue.
