Winnipeg police have arrested a woman in connection with a fatal pedestrian collision on the Harry Lazarenko (Redwood) Bridge last year.

Investigators with the Traffic Division’s Collision Investigation Section took a 28-year-old woman into custody on Aug. 11, 2025. She has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving causing death and was released on an appearance notice under the Provincial Offences Act.

The incident occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 10, 2024. Police and paramedics responded to reports of an injured person on the bridge. A 49-year-old woman was found with severe injuries and pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined the woman had been lying on the roadway when she was struck by a westbound vehicle. T
