Local advocate Ken Drysdale is set to appear before the Rural Municipality of St. Clements council Tuesday afternoon to make the case for withdrawing from the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region (WMR), a regional planning body that includes Winnipeg and 17 surrounding municipalities.

Drysdale’s delegation will be limited to ten minutes, a constraint he says makes it challenging to fully explain what he calls a “complex and broad issue.”

“I’m trying to get the RM of St. Clements to remove themselves from the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region,” Drysdale said ahead of the meeting. “With the recent changes under Bill 4, we have a short window where municipalities can opt out easily, but if they wait, they may lose that chance.”
