The August bank holiday, falling on the last Monday of the month, will disrupt benefit payment dates for millions across the UK. This year, the bank holiday is on August 25.

As in 2025, England and Wales have eight bank holidays this year. When a bank holiday falls on a weekend, a "substitute" weekday, usually the following Monday, becomes a bank holiday.

Many businesses, including benefit offices, jobcentres, and banks, close on bank holidays.

This will result in changes to payment dates for many claimants. Benefits due on that date, including the State Pension, should instead be deposited into accounts on Friday, August 22, reports the Liverpool Echo .
