UNITED STATES – YouTube is set to test a new age verification system in the United States, starting August 13. This system will use artificial intelligence to distinguish between adults and minors based on the videos they watch.

Initially, the tests will impact only a small portion of YouTube’s US audience. However, the scope could broaden if the tests prove successful.

If the system identifies a viewer as being under 18, YouTube will implement existing controls and restrictions to block content deemed inappropriate for children.

This trial reflects YouTube’s ongoing efforts to enhance safety and suitability for younger audiences. The introduction of AI could mark a significant shift in how age verification is managed on the platform.
