FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Cats and birds aren’t exactly a match made in nature. In fact, for songbirds, a free-roaming feline can be a feathered nightmare.

But the owners of Wild Birds Unlimited in Fayetteville and Rogers have figured out a way to turn this predator–prey story into a win for both species.

Ambre Brewster has been running a side mission for the past 17 months: rehoming feral cats. Not just any cats, either — friendly strays found through the Northwest Arkansas Community Cat Project, which traps, spays, and neuters hundreds of cats each year.

“I’ve always loved animals, and we feed everything in our backyard,” Ambre said. “If we help get the cats off the street, we help the cats of Northwest Arkansas, the cat population of Northwest Arkansas, the songbirds of Northwest Arkansas
