CARMEL, Ind. — A significant water outage is affecting the west side of Carmel.
According to the City of Carmel Utilities , the department is working to restore service after it went out Monday morning.
Carmel Utilities issued a boil water advisory for Monday, Aug. 11 for all of its customers in the affected area following a loss of pressure in the drinking water system.
The department said this is due to a fire hydrant that was "unexpectedly blown off the water line." They said this might've caused potential contamination to the water supply.
"A drop in water pressure can allow contaminants to enter the water system," the department said. "As a precaution, we advise all customers to boil water before consuming it until further notice."
