New evidence regarding the shooter who fired more than 500 bullets at the Atlanta headquarters for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and killed a police officer was made public at a press conference on Tuesday.
The scene of Friday’s shooting was a CVS Pharmacy parking lot just across from the CDC campus, where officials said five guns — a combination of rifles, shotguns and handguns — were recovered, and close to 200 of the over 500 rounds of ammunition impacted six of the CDC buildings.
The subject, identified as 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White, took the life of DeKalb County police officer David Rose, who first responded to the scene. It was also confirmed that White died from self-inflicted wounds.
