A benefits cheat who defrauded the state out of more than £100,000 after lying about living alone has been jailed.
Denise Wiseman, 51, failed to declare to the Department of Work and Pensions a change in her circumstances with regard to her payments when her partner moved in to live with her in what a judge called a 'very serious example of benefit fraud'.
A court heard she claimed Job Seeker's Allowance (JSA), Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Employment and Support Allowance.
Mother-of-four Wiseman, of Midlothian Street in Clayton , Manchester, was claiming benefits as a 'single woman and the sole adult' in the house, Manchester Crown Court heard. All monies, the court heard, were paid directly into her bank account.
