OMAHA, Neb. —

Omaha police are warning you about a new fentanyl trend in the metro.

Their narcotics unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration recently found a new substance referred to as "purple fentanyl."

They said it contains lidocaine, which numbs parts of the body. Narcan cannot reverse its effects.

Authorities are asking you to remain vigilant.

They believe the product is originating from Kansas City.

If anyone around you is experiencing overdose symptoms, call 911.

Nebraska's Good Samaritan Law ensures you will not be charged.
